A Master 2 program in Paris city center
The Master 2 MMMEF (Modélisation et Méthodes Mathématiques en Economie et Finance) is a Master's program delivered at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. With a wide variety of courses, all taught in English, the program aims at training high level specialists in financial mathematics, financial engineering, mathematical economics, game theory, optimization, control theory, data science, machine learning, and operations research.
The program is divided into 4 tracks (see below) which are interrelated in terms of (i) the mathematical tools and concepts involved, and (ii) practical applications in the industry.
The courses cover a large range of mathematical techniques going from analysis, to probability, to optimization, to decision making, to statistics and machine learning, and cover both theoretical aspects and practical applications to economics, finance, data science, and operations research.

Most courses of the program can be chosen whatever the track (indeed each track has a very few mandatory courses: click on "Courses"), so that each student can decide within each tracks of other specializations (like data scientist/quantitative finance, or
data scientist/economics, or optimization/finance, or game theory/finance,  etc...)

Four tracks.

Economic Theory and Applications

The "Economic Theory and Applications" track provides high-level academic knowledge in mathematical economics, game theory, and decision theory. This track is for example dedicated to students willing to apply for a PhD program in mathematical economics or economic theory at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne or anywhere in the world.

Quantitative Finance

The "Quantitative Finance" track is dedicated to students who wish to be taught high-level knowledge in stochastic calculus and financial modeling. Graduates often start their career in investment banks, asset management companies, or in consulting firms. They can also apply for a PhD program at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne or anywhere in the world.

Economics, Finance and Games

The "Economics, Finance and Games" track provides high-level academic knowledge in mathematical economics,  finance and game theory. This track is dedicated to students willing to be taught the quantitative tools of finance and economics without diving into the most advanced aspects of stochastic calculus. Graduates often start their career in the financial industry.

Optimization and Data Science

The "Optimization and Data Science" track is dedicated to students who wish to be taught high-level mathematical knowledge in data science and machine learning, in addition to other knowledge in finance, economic or optimization, with interactions with decision theory, optimization, and operations research. Graduates often start their career as data scientists or with quantitative positions in services industries. They can also apply for a PhD program at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne or anywhere in the world.

Living as a Master 2 MMMEF student

Most of the courses take place at Maison des Sciences Economiques, 106 boulevard de l'Hôpital, 75013 PARIS. The program starts with a two-trimesters period of courses. Students can then start an internship or carry out academic research and write a Master's thesis. For more details, see the dedicated page: Curriculum
Important: The University of Paris 1 is committed to combating racism, anti-semitism, and more broadly, all forms of discrimination. It has appointed a racism-anti-semitism referent who is specifically responsible for promoting a culture of law and a better understanding of the fight against racism and anti-semitism among the audiences within their scope of activity.
