Here are some ressources and instructions for the MMMEF internship and research project (these instructions can be slightly different for QEM: see the QEM administration for specific instructions, in particular in terms of dates).
The internship lasts a minimum of 4 months and a maximum of 6 months. It must be completed before November 30th. The are two supervisors (one for the host organization, like Natixis, BNP, etc.)
the other for University Paris 1 (like Philippe Bich, Michel Grabisch, Christophe Chorro, etc...in general a teacher of MMMEF). When the internship is a research project, these two supervisors can coincide.
An internship report must be submitted at least one week before the presentation. An evaluation form, filled by your supervisor (of the host organization of the intern) should be sent to the secretary before the defense (see the word model below). The presentation (with the two supervisors) presents the internship and provides an opportunity for discussion with the supervisor. The most important aspect of the report and presentation is to highlight your personal work, especially the quantitative (mathematical) work. Some internships have a reduced mathematical content. In such cases, it is important for the student to make an effort to develop a significant mathematical content in their report and presentation on their own. For example, if the internship is highly operational in the field of quantitative risk, the student can present risk models used in their workplace, engage in discussions with those who use them, etc. This mathematical aspect should not be completely disconnected from what the student is doing. The most important aspect of the presentation is to have a good understanding of the concepts being presented (this will be crucial for the evaluation).
Below two examples of very good internship reports from former students.
